Another thing is I wonder/worry what organisms think/feel ??? being betrayed by humans. If they find us a curiosity and reach out to figure whether friend or foe. then realize where predators - Isnt that betrayal??
We talk a little bit more about this dynamic with Jenny Kendler, hopefully that episode will be out in December. Jon Waterman also talked about this in 'Into the Thaw' in regard to his relationship with bears. It's interesting when people share accounts of visiting remote areas where humans usually aren't located and how the non-human animals don't have the suspicion those in more heavily trafficked areas have due to negative interactions. At the end of the day, we don't know if non-human animals have empathy the way we do, but it seems like our empathy is in short supply when we engage non-human animals.
